Kerri CHANDLER and Robert OWENS Live Broadcast from BLUE MARLIN Closing Party / Sunday October 2nd

This Sunday is the end of the Blue Marlin summer.
A season which was full of sun, sea and good music…

Kerri 'Kaoz' Chandler one of deep house music's originators, has been injecting soul into music since the early nineties. An ambassador of the natural and instinctive 4/4 beat, Kerri's influences can be traced back to New Jersey growing up in a family of jazz musicians.

Since the signing of his first single "SuperLover/Get It Off" by Atlantic in 1991, Kerri began producing a prolific body of work that has helped coin him one of the most respected house producers in the world.

After being nominated a couple of months ago, Kerri Chandler was awarded the accolade of best Deep House DJ at this esteemed international award ceremony on 27th September 2011 hosted at Pacha, Ibiza. A genuine compliment & ’tilt of the cap’ by fans and industry alike, Kerri won ahead of talented and respected peers including Ben Watt, Charles Webster, Jimpster, Kaskade, Francois Kervorkian & Claude Van Stroke.

Asked about the biggest tune of the summer…

« It has to be Davide Squillace and Guti – That Ginger Ponytail. It had a buzz on it, long before I even got to remix it. »

It sounds Old School...

Ask any fan of dance music who their favourite male vocalist is and nine times out of ten Robert Owens name will come back. Sure, there are other great male house vocalists out there, but with more than twenty years as a gifted singer, songwriter, producer and DJ under his belt, Robert has not so much embellished house music as played a large part in defining it.

his first EP "I'll Be Your Friend" release on the famous London label 1trax was remixed by stars like Jamie Jones, Soul Clap, Gadi Mizrahi and Inxec & Matt Tolfrey. This song also appears in the Video Game Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas.

From the gritty but sublime Trax of yesteryear to the forward-looking projects of today, Robert Owens is one of dance music's true legends, a man who has his roots in the future and his feet planted firmly on the earth - and a man who has never been afraid of sharing himself with others.

In september 2nd, he was in London in THE NEST club, where he did a very good live, that you can listen here.

Richie Hawtin, The founder of the famous minimal label MINUS, is one of the pioneers of the second detroit techno wave, and knew impose himself like flag-waver for the underground Detroit scene. Resident of the COCOON parties, he already stormed many times the Amnesia this Summer.

We also remember his impressive live 1.5 under his pseudonym Plastikman in Amnesia on August 5th and its very special last track. Not for everyone…

"A set is created to make dance the crowd not for listening at home. A electronic set should only be heard in the party and when this party finishes the set shouldn't be heard for nobody, it should only be keeped on the mind of clubbers who were in the event."

Richie Hawtin

Loco Dice is someone, who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. There’s something there for the dreamers, as well as for the 9-to-5ers who just want to lose everything in a moment of abandon on the dancefloor.

« Every so often, a Dj or producer comes along who inspires the collective imagination »

Cocoon Records about Loco Dice.

Like Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice too will be just came back of the Time Warp festival where they will just have played the same day in the afternoon. What a life !

Marco Carola is the recognized global ambassador of Italian techno. It's a position he treats with the utmost care and respect—and one that stands him among the hallowed company of contemporary techno's leading practitioners. He became the first Neopolitan artist to commit techno to vinyl, paving the way for an entire generation of producers.
These days Marco is a mainstay of Richie Hawtin's Minus and Plus 8 labels, who, much like Marco himself, are one of the driving forces behind techno's permeation of the worldwide dance scene.
On february 7th, he released his last album on Minus, Play it Loud !

« I've been playing at Amnesia Closing for about 5 years and year-by-year - at the start it was just residents and now - they've decided to push some guests. And the last 2 years has been crazy, the number of people coming has tripled or quadrupled and I've seen it growing. It's a mix between really good club and choice of the DJs. »

« I always love playing at Amnesia in Ibiza, it's one of the only places where I get excited about playing a long time in advance. »

Marco Carola

COCOON HEROES Grand Closing Party / Monday September 26th / AMNESIA

Summer, sun, salt in the air! Finally, the season closings are coming! Where are the heroes of the night? You are my hero, I am your hero, all of you are our heroes. Everybody, friends and hands, shamans and magicians. The masters of loudness as well as the many helpers in the background, without whom all this would not be possible. We are one: Cocoon Heroes!

Come on, join the journey, because the island is ready for new heroes! Enjoy the sun, taste the salty air, meet again all the other heroes and embrace new ones. This is the flight into the heart of the beat, the perfect party and the following day in all its beauty. Not from this world – a short utopia – however, one that we are creating – together. With that power, this seemingly unending power of the sun. Let us make use from it, because we can succeed. We, the pirates, the travellers, the dancers and the artists, and all the others. A dream? Yes, sure – but one we are able to live, thanks to you. A dream that we create, a dream that we make come true. Together with you! Because we are the party: Cocoon Heroes!

.

The Cocoon Kaiser Sven Vath will storm the mainroom with Loco Dice and Maetrik.

If you’ve seen Loco Dice perform at his ten-year-long Tribehouse residency in his hometown Düsseldorf, or at DC- 10 in Ibiza (from ’02-’06), you will have clicked to this.

Maetrik aka Eric Estornel, also famous under the names, MARIEL ITO, MACEO PLEX, and simply ESTORNEL, has been contributing to his musical world around him since 1993. Always searching for the future of electronic dance, Eric has never let himself be confined by the rules of styles or genres as he makes his way through such a political and fickle industry.

It sounds minimal…

Another room, another Heroes…

No need to present Ricardo Villalobos, Berlin based Dj, one of the best-known names in contemporary electronica and one of the most solicited Djs worldwide and a renowned musician.

After his first trip to Ibiza in 1995, Ricardo adopted the island as a third home. He played at a Cocoon event at Amnesia in 1999 and joined the Cocoon booking agency later that year.

He actually just released Re : ECM a new remixes album with Marc Loderbauer (Berlin based Dj and electronic producer) in june 2011.
reinterpreting pieces (by the Christian Wallumrød Ensemble and Arvo Pärt, among others) from the back catalogue of modern jazz and classical label ECM Villalobos and Loderbauer create new music that bridges several worlds, including ECM’s world of space-conscious improvisation and composition and the worlds of Ambient Electronics and Minimal Techno.

“Listening to ECM for decades, it sharpens your ear really.” R. Villalobos

Raresh, The native-born Romanian signed on the Romanian label ar[pi]ar, showed us how meteoric one’s rise in the world of electronic music can turn out to be. In 2003, Raresh had already played in various clubs in his native city Bacau, but he was eventually drawn to Bukarest. In 2005, he already shared decks with famous colleagues like Richie Hawtin, Tobi Neumann or Josh Wink. Only one year later, he played back to back with Chris Tietjen the warm-up for Sven Väth as part of The Sound Of The Sixth Season World Tour 2006. Soon after, Raresh switched to the Cocoon booking agency and entered the world of internationally sought-after DJs.

On september 9th, just released the last Green & Blue In the Mix Cocoon Compilation mixed by Raresh and Sascha Dive.

Green & Blue 2011 – Raresh in the Mix (CD1) by cocoonrecordings

Sure. Two minds are better than one.
What is the most important thing you have to have a song?
Emotion.
What do you look when you compose?
Nothing.
When do you feel that a song is finished?
When I'm tired of doing it.
Is there something in the music would still like to do?
More than ever. I can fill the gaps that are everywhere.
Still have a tank and a submarine?
Yes, it is for fun.
Are you interested in politics? What do you think of the youthful revolts that turn in Europe?

Casi nada oigan.

CARL COX Funk, Soul & House Session / Friday September 23th 14H00-23H00 at SANDS

After revolutionized the Space during all the summer on Tuesdays, and 3 days after the Carl Cox Revolution Closing Party on september 20th, The Master Carl will be in SANDS Beach club (Playa D’em Bossa) this friday for a Funk, Soul & House All Afternoon Session from 14H00 to 23H00.

Asked by Essential Ibiza Blog about his sessions in SANDS, kind of music very different of that he use to play here, in Ibiza, he just seems amused :

I really wanted to be able to find a place to play that kind of music so I bought the company! (Laughs) I just love the fact that for once people can see what I can do on the other side of the coin and with that I have had some of the best times playing. Six hours minimum playing all this music with some classic house thrown in and it’s a really good, fun time. It’s completely different to anything else that’s going on on this island and it freaks people out. They come down and I’m playing Gwen Guthrie “Ain’t Nothing Going On But The Rent” and they haven’t heard this record let alone me playing it and they don’t get it and what’s really nice about it is that it’s cool that they don’t get it. That’s where I came from, that is the school of the music that got me where I am today and I still want people to know that. People that are actually my age group appreciate that I’ve thought about dong this but it’s a great day and something for everyone to look forward to and it works really well, when I’m playing I’ve got this great big smile on my face, dropping all these records and you can see people feeling it and that’s why I do this.

Well, Nobody can explain it better than himself…

Ibiza Sonica will restransmit This Special Carl COX session from 15H00 to 22H00.

Listen the live broadcast from the SANDS on 95.2 fm and www.ibizasonica.com

CREAM 2011 Closing Party / Thursday September 22th / AMNESIA

Voted 'Best Club of the Last 25 Years' by Mixmag, Cream are rightly regarded as an international clubbing royalty, with an 18 years Ibiza residency being their crown jewel. These Thursday parties at Amnesia have provided defining moments of the Ibiza experience longer than any promoter on the island and have simply become a ritual for clubbers and trance lovers coming here.

Paul van Dyk, the first artists to receive a Grammy nomination in the newly added category of Best Dance/Electronic album for his 2004 release Reflections and one of the most popular CREAM residents will celebrate the end of the 2011 CREAM Summer with a special MixMag terrace set.

Paul Van Dyk's music has developed over the years into what he prefers to call "electronic" music, which incorporates a range of genres to create his own distinctive ‘Paul Van Dyk Style' :
"My music does have trance elements but it also has elements of techno, electro and even drum & bass and house". It's certainly a style that has seen him win many awards, including the World's Number One DJ on more than one occasion. Asked about his new album that should be released in 2011, he confirmed the title "EVOLUTION".He also said that it will be slower than usual with 132 BPM for the fatest track. Like annonced, EVOLUTION will even have a Drum n' Bass theme among his tracks.

Describing Ibiza as "beautiful" Paul Van Dyk went on to explain that the White Isle's international approach is what makes it so special and unique...

"there are a lot of people that see me in America or in the UK, or Germany, or Australia, or anywhere in the world, but in Amnesia at Cream they all see me together in one room and it's a very different experience because people aren't in their normal home environments. They are out, on holiday, having a good time and that gives the night a special element"

PvD spoke very highly of Amnesia, confirming it as being "the best club in Ibiza" and thinks Cream is a dream event because of how global the brand is, " I have my following from all over the world and people from different backgrounds and religions all come together in this one place and have a good time together".

Paul Van Dyk will share the Mainroom with Jonh’O Callaghan, Gareth Wyn and Adam Sheridan.

In the other hand, Chris Lake, James Dutton and Calvin Harris will storm the Terrace.

Calvin Harris, the scottish Singer and Songwriter released his first album “I Created Disco” in 2007, an album that contained the top ten singles "aceptable in the 80’s" and "The girls". He has written and produced records for other pop artists like Kylie Minogue, Sophie Ellis Bextor or Katie Perry. Not to mention his number-one collaboration with English rapper Dizzee Rascal, "Dance with me".

Like everynight, Ibiza Sonica becomes Radio Amnesia from 23H00 to 03H00.
